Dear Doctors, I have low back pain and stiffness. My X-Ray should deteration and sublixation of l5. I had a MRI yesterday. The nurse called and said the MRI was normal. What could be going on? I have numbness in my hips and my right leg feels like its a sleep.(pins and needle pricks). I hope you can help me. Thank you for your time. SKYBOICK

Thank you for your inquiry. Sorry, but the information below is not enough to even 'guess' at a diagnosis and we're sure you want more than a guess... it's necessary to interpret an MRI in the light of the history as well as physical examination findings - for example, you age, any history of trauma, and your build are very definitely factors in assessing the problems associated with so-called 'subluxation'. May we suggest you talk to the doctor rather than just have to nurse report what the radiologist who read your MRI said (or did not say). Alternatively, seek treatment that involves the doctor who ordered your MRI explaining the result and how to interpret it to your directly (not all pathlogy shows up on MRIU, and even less soft tissue pathology shows up on X-ray). Pins and needles is almost always a sign of pressure on the nerve supplying the area in question, so the situation cannot be left as 'the MRI is normal' - even if it is. Best regards
