Question:

I have been having this dull pain in the left side shoulder area for over a month and now it has moved down my arm to my hand and it feels tingly, along with a abnormal heart beat something like skipping every now and then and it is getting worse. please if you can give some opinion as to what it might be. I really don't want to go to the doctor if it's nothing.

Dear lc, Your symptoms sound like they should be checked out. Pain in the shoulder area moving down to the arm and hand and associated with tingling can be nerve root compression from your spinal cord. Nerves can also be compressed by the muscles in the neck and shoulder region. However this would not be associated with an abnormal heart beat. This may be something else altogether. Occasionally stress can bring on symptoms like these however as it is getting worse seeing your doctor is the best option. Regards, Ask the Doctor
