Hello. I am taking the anticonceptionals pills and in the same time Ferrous Sulphate. Does the second will cancel the effects of the first ones? Thank you.

Thank you for your inquiry. As you do not specify the type of o.c. you are taking, this is a question best addressed to the doctor who prescribed you this combination of drugs. However, ferrous sulphate's main interactions are with antacids, some antibiotics, some foods (e.g. eggs and milk), and an anti-parkinsonian drug; it is not likely that there will be an interaction. Still, as the consequences of oral contraceptive failure include pregnancy, it is necessary to check with your doctor as above and any time you are prescribed a drug, miss a pill, or have a gastrointestinal upset.
